Where Annapolis living and real estate intersect
Plebe Summer

If you've noticed more Midshipmen around Annapolis lately, or more Navy sailboats, YP boats and other training vessels on the Severn this summer, there's a reason.
Every year, roughly 1,200 incoming freshmen arrive in late June for Plebe Summer, six weeks of training and their introduction to military life at the Naval Academy. That wrapped up with Plebe Parents' Weekend August 6–9, and now the rest of the Brigade is returning for the start of the academic year.
How to Spot a Plebe
When I was a kid, one of my favorite Annapolis games was figuring out what year a Midshipman was just by looking at their uniform.
At the Academy, freshmen are Fourth Class, sophomores are Third Class, juniors are Second Class, and seniors are First Class (or "firsties").
The easiest giveaway is their class insignia that you can find on their shoulders:
4/C – Plebes: No stripe; 3/C – Sophomores: One diagonal stripe; 2/C – Juniors: Two diagonal stripes; 1/C – Seniors: One horizontal stripe

The Naval Academy's Fall Rhythm
Plebe Parents' Weekend is also one of the first big weekends of the Naval Academy year for Annapolis.
Thousands of family members come into town to see their plebes after six weeks apart, filling hotels, restaurants and short-term rentals around the city.
We hosted a Navy family at our house for Parents' Weekend this year, and we're looking forward to hosting more families during football weekends this fall.
It's a fun reminder of just how connected Annapolis is to the Academy. The Blue Angels and Commissioning Week may get most of the attention, but there is a whole calendar of smaller traditions throughout the year that quietly change the rhythm of the city.
And this week, with the full Brigade coming back to town, it’s one of the first signs that we’re heading into one of the best times of year in Annapolis.

Selling a home can be stressful, and a big part of our job is making that process as easy as possible. But when it comes to how a listing actually performs, two things matter most: pricing it correctly and getting it in front of as many buyers as possible in its best light.
Our two most recent listings are now under contract and set to close soon. Here is a glimpse at how they performed.

Good marketing doesn't guarantee a sale, but it gives a properly priced home the best chance to find the right buyer. That's the system we're focused on.
